Job Description:
A reputable and growing law firm is seeking an experienced Personal Injury Paralegal / Legal Assistant to join its litigation team. This role is suited to a highly organised and detail-oriented individual with a strong background in personal injury and insurance defence litigation. Please note, this is not an entry-level position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day communications with clients, opposing counsel, and court officials
- Prepare, finalise, and electronically file legal documents with the courts
- Draft routine legal documents, including notices, motions, and subpoenas
- Assist with drafting and responding to discovery, including compiling relevant documentation
- Request, review, and process records, with a strong focus on medical documentation
- Coordinate and schedule compulsory medical examinations (CMEs)
- Conduct legal and factual research, including background checks, witness information, and procedural requirements
- Support trial preparation, including organising exhibits and liaising with witnesses
- Maintain accurate records and ensure timely entry of billable hours
Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 2–4 years’ experience as a litigation paralegal
- Proven experience within insurance defence litigation (e.g. motor, premises, or professional liability)
- Strong working knowledge of personal injury law and litigation processes
- Demonstrated experience managing billable tasks and time recording
- Associate degree or recognised paralegal qualification (or equivalent experience)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including professional telephone manner
- High level of organisation and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
